Notebook Laptop Guide
A Simple Notebook Laptop Guide - Choose A Notebook That's Right For You!
I've compiled a quick run down of what people should look for when choosing notebook laptops - helping people like YOU find the best laptop notebook for your money! The trouble is these days that most laptops can be customised to exactly fit the users needs, which means if you know what you're looking for you can save a fair bit of money!
You can narrow down searchers into 3 main categories, people on a Budget, people looking for an alternative to their Desktop PC, and those looking for the lightest most portable notebook laptop. I'm told Novatech is one to avoid, along with any that do not come with a 3 year warranty - You've been warned!
Budget Notebooks
Students or families wanting a new laptop should be looking here. If you just want to get on the net for surfing, doing a bit of work now and again (using MS Word, Excel, etc), sending and receiving emails, checking facebook
and other such things then you'll probably be looking at a notebook that has around a 20GB hard drive, 256-512MB of RAM, obviously wireless internet access with a modem - so you can connect from the lounge or kitchen or anywhere in the house where you can find a signal! This kind of Laptop should come with USB Ports to connect your mobile phone, digital camera, or external devices to.
Price range: £250 - £400.
Laptop Notebooks as Alternatives to Desktop PC
If you want to clear up space and a laptop seems like a good idea you need to think carefully about your budget and exactly what you need.. There's no point in getting a laptop that you're never going to exploit fully!
What to look for? 15-17" Widescreen display - Pentium 4 processor - 60GB HDD - 512-1024MB of DDR/DDR2 RAM - DVD-RW - The graphics card should be fairly advanced and have its own memory. You'll want to weigh up whether you can afford a lighter weight laptop or a slightly heavier one if you're going to be on the move or not and have a notebook laptop with less or more battery life.
Price range: £350 - £850
Advanced Ultra-Portable Notebook Laptops!
Ultra portable = Lightweight, or even better featherweight! These laptops are made to be taken everywhere and may not be quite as powerful as the previously mentioned - but they WILL provide a happy medium between versatility/connectability using WiFi, battery life/consumption, and processor speed/memory, etc.You can find ultra portable laptops which have in built dvd/cd writers, but if you cant afford one with that, then just get one which has a USB port so you can plug in a USB memory stick for backing up anything important - note that a memory stick doesnt have anyway near as much storage space as a dvd or cd!
Things to take into account when looking for an ultra portable notebook: Battery Life & Weight (not just the laptop but any power mains adaptors and external devices.
Price range: £400-£2500
